PUUF works for a sustainable tomorrow by being an innovative design partner for events today. We upcycle materials into a circular system of products that are durable, locally produced and recyclable.
As a supplier to the event industry, we carry a big responsibility towards our peers and the environment. Every day, we go up against the status quo, we distance ourselves from the classic linear system which focuses on cheap production and disposable materials. Instead, we work with a system in which we design waste away and keep materials in use.
It’s called the circular economy – a new way to create and use within planetary boundaries.
PUUF’s circular model. Materials get upcycled into products that are used multiple times. Broken ones get repaired and returned to the stock. The ones beyond repair are disassembled and put back into circulation.
Sustainability is our core value and we embrace it through conscious design decisions and choice of materials.
PUUF materials are:
- Locally produced & used
- Reusable & recyclable
PUUF designs are:
- Afterlife & disassembly smart
Sustainable Development Goals 8, 12 & 13
In our work, we reduce, reuse, rethink and experiment. When we design, when we create, when we buy, our aim is to always go for the most environmentally responsible solution.
These practices, PUUF materials and PUUF designs directly correspond to SDGs number 8, 12 and 13. We bring the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals close to our daily work, because even the smallest, local actions have global consequences.
8.4 Use resources efficiently in consumption and production
12.2 Achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
12.5 Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse
13.3 Build knowledge and capacity to respond to climate change
Think global, act local
Not only do emitted kilograms of CO2 count, zero-waste philosophy is also about motivating and challenging.
We are in the growth phase and our immediate impact is miniscule when put in perspective of the entire industry. But we are gaining traction and having more participation in the market. There’s a strong belief among us that pushing our sustainable agenda challenges our competitors and partners to make more responsible decisions. That’s the change we’re making.
